The Verdict
If you love incredible views, scrumptious food and beautiful wine, then look no further than Cable Bay. Located on the gorgeous Waiheke Island, this destination vineyard is the ultimate place to enjoy an unforgettable meal over a glass (or two) of vino.
The Dining Room’s ever-changing menu features seasonal produce sourced from the vineyard’s organic garden and orchard. Following a garden-to-table philosophy, Cable Bay’s garden is flourishing with veges, herbs and edible flowers. They also raise their own chickens for eggs and have their very own honey hive—so cool!
The rest of their produce is sourced locally and used to create seasonal dishes works of art. Expect to be served a stunning meal showcasing a thoughtful combination of flavours, colours and textures. What’s more, the dishes are created with Cable Bay’s wine offerings in mind to create the perfect pairing.
The Verandah’s menu has Mediterranean influences and encourages people to embrace a long, leisurely dining experience. Feast on dishes such as lamb cutlets, pork belly sliders, snapper ceviche and flavoursome salads. The food is designed to be shared with woodfired pizza and a dedicated platter menu starring cured meats, cheese, olives and dips.
Wherever you choose to dine, one thing’s for certain: no visit is complete without savouring Cable Bay’s award-winning wine. Enjoy a vino with your meal and be sure to check out the cellar door overlooking the winery below. Pro tip: stick around for a wine tasting!

Bistro Saine
Wander down the cobblestones of Saint Patrick’s Square and you might happen upon the luxurious first floor of newly-built Hotel Indigo, housed in a restored heritage building. You can enter through the other side too—the Albert Street entrance blending into the concrete jungle as if it was always there (just look for the elegant Bistro Saine font out front).
Takapuna Surf Club
When you hear the words surf club, what comes to mind? I think of ice cream, pizza, and Alf Stewart (I haven't watched Home & Away in years, but I understand the Summer Bay Surf Club is still standing. Poor old Mr. Stewart, I'm not so sure).
