Once a Facebook community for the hangry during COVID-19,  now a vibrant assortment of IRL food festivals and events, and a digital platform dedicated to all things tasty, the rise of Chow Luck Club has been an impressive one.

Helmed by ex-NZ Herald journalist Lincoln Tan and former educator from Singapore Bee Koh, Chow Luck Club is perhaps best known for its Walking Food Tours and string of food markets including a splash edit in celebration of Songkran/Thai New Year, the Takapuna Noodle Festival and an upcoming offal-centric market. Keep an eye on their upcoming events here.

The vendors are hand-picked by Koh and Tan and each lineup curated to ensure every stall is selling something unique (top tip: arrive as hungry as possible and be prepared to feast up large). From char kuay teow and roti pies to Dubai chocolate-inspired cookies, Korean hotteok street food pancakes to hot meat skewers and Dragon’s beard candy pulled in front of your eyes, it’s definitely an eyes-bigger-than-your-stomach situ, so packing takeaway bags is vital.

Koh and Tan are constantly toiling away behind the scenes, putting in the mahi to diversify what’s on our plates. Their latest initiative? A digital ChowLuckCard which, for those who wield it, will unlock discounts and offers at participating hospo venues like Seoul Night, Hazy Tiger, Jungle 8, Lucky 8, Petaling Malaysian, Gion, Vie, Che Viet, Eden Noodle City and Yuan Taste. If that sounds like a bit of you, download the app for Apple or Android and get feasting.
