The Verdict:
Bringing pop and punk back to Parnell, Fang is so much more than just your average Asian fusion restaurant. From the brilliant minds behind Rude Boy and Winona Forever, the space features sprawling murals by local artist Ant Sang of mascot Fang and follows her adventures to restore the freedom of flavour in a dystopian future.
Bold and brilliant, Fang won’t disappoint with scrumptious dishes designed to share, including the bang bang chicken cup, steamed blacken bun of beef teriyaki and succulent slow-cooked beef shin. Be sure to check out the bar and sip on a cocktail concoction—we recommend the refreshing jade dragon, before heading out to the atrium to lounge under the twinkle of fairy lights. A visual feast from start to finish, you won’t regret paying Fang a visit.

It’s a Tuesday night in Auckland city but you’d easily mistake it for the weekend at Sumi. The new izakaya spot by owner-chef Jason Lee (Wakuwaku, Katsu Katsu, Tsuru Tsuru) in City Works Depot is humming.
