The Verdict

‘Veggies are boring.’ Oh pleeease. Here to put that myth firmly to bed is Auckland’s dedicated vegetarian and vegan restaurant, Forest, who are here to show you just how remarkable your five-a-day can truly be.

After taking a little time off to relocate to their new Dominion Road residence, Forest is back, bringing a seasonal, curated and well-thought-out menu of plant-based delights with it.

As the team champions all things seasonal and locally sourced, expect each visit to be different depending on what they’ve been growing and harvesting. But, if their last menu is anything to go by, boy, are we all in for a treat.

From the crumbed kumara stuffed with smoked cheddar and toasted red pepper sauce to the fried baby onions filled with Japanese yuzu and chilli cream, the talented team create masterpieces from those veggies you call mundane.

Well, mundane no more cos if you hadn’t already guessed, dessert is just as phenomenal. We’re talking the likes of chocolate self-saucing pudding with spiced date fudge, soy sauce ice cream (absolute game-changer) and olive oil.

Forest is a serious contender for best flavour combos in town and we can’t wait to see what surprises they have in store this time round.
