Neon lights, baby blue banquette seats and orange retro funk meets modern art is what Good Luck Club (GLC) is all about. As soon as you step in, this modern day diner has all the whimsical nostalgia of childhood milkshakes with comfort diner food that’s all about being fun and playful.

From the team behind Greenlane’s Slowlane, Ellerslie's Bonita and The Breakfast Club in Point Chevalier, Good Luck Club is The Breakfast Club’s sibling restaurant—offering more than just a deli sandwich to go with your bottomless Lucky brew.

Based in the exciting new dining and entertainment precinct Derby Square in Takanini, this diner is more than just a stop-over diner. Owners Issac and Shanay Yu (Runo Group) are foodies through and through, addicted to the art and service of hospitality. Drawing inspiration from their travels overseas, they bring colourful design touches (Shanay creates all the feature walls for their spaces with her talented eye for retro design elements) and no-fuss food you just want to get stuck into.

It’s a team collaboration with the GLC chefs to create the ultimate diner spread. Signature smash burgers come with the option of an extra patty, or in a sizzling plate of melted cheese (side note: it comes with plenty of fries to dunk into the sizzling cheesy sauce). Southern-style fried chicken burgers are elevated with the option to swap to a glazed donut burger, or go for a big fried half-chicken, complete with all the gravy and mash trimmings. Don’t forget a couple of sides to share with the table—the mac ‘n cheese is a big bowl of comfort eats in itself (with the option to go “dirty” with fried ham and onion). There’s even a dedicated kids menu with all the diner faves including chicken tenders, cheeseburgers and pancakes, too.

For the sweeter side of diner fare, opt for GLC’s classic ricotta and buttermilk hotcakes—fluffy with whipped Biscoff butter, crunchy pretzel crumbs and a good ol’ drenching of maple syrup. Top it off with their Perky Nana inspired Lucky Shake or perhaps another dessert from their Sweet Treats menu—we’re eyeing up the Golden Syrup Sundae from their in-house soft serve machine.

The drinks menu is for kids and big kids alike, from Classic to Lucky Shakes, filter and flatties, even Good Luck Lager and wines on tap. We’re loving their Chilli Blackberry Marg—it’s like a grown-up Ribena but better. Their selection of cocktails (and mocktails) are perfect for the pre-movie or arcade games treat (with Silky Otter Cinemas in the precinct, and word on the street is that there's a games arcade opening up right next door).

Open all day ‘til late, make it a day (and night) trip to this humming spot in Takanini. It’s your lucky day every day at the Good Luck Club.
