Hankering for something golden and crispy? Look no further than this certified Newmarket favourite.

Almost hidden away on Khyber Pass Road, Katsu Katsu has you covered come lunch or dinner. It's only a couple doors up from our other favourite, Tian Fu, but don't let the modest black facade fool you. Step inside and discover an electric venue with some seriously good Japanese cuisine. Scootch into a booth or take a seat. Either way, you’re about to enjoy one of the best tonkatsu experiences in the motu.

Think thick-cut pork, chicken, and prawn all coated in panko and fried to gold. You’re drooling, right? Each set comes with bottomless rice, slaw, and miso—perfect for those days you need a second wind in a bowl. Now I know you’re hungry.

But maybe Katsu’s not your thing? No stress. There are slurp-worthy udon noodle dishes and all the beloved Japanese snacks and sides like edamame, karaage, and takoyaki. Oishii!

And yes, before you raise your hand to ask us the inevitable, the drinks menu is all you could ask for—beers on tap, Japanese cocktails, and even a sake selection to pair with your meal. Catching up with your crew just got a whole lot better.

So, need a new work lunch spot? Or just craving some damn good Japanese? Katsu Katsu must be next on your list.
