Sammy’s Deli and Diner is your new go-to for feel-good food and easy-going vibes. Picture a spot where warmth meets style, and traditional comfort food gets a playful twist. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely dinner, Sammy's has you covered with its welcoming atmosphere and hearty kai.

The latest innovation from the creators of Kohi Beach Eatery and store in Kohimarama—James Tucker, Lorene Politzer, and Tim Nightingale—Sammy’s aims to make dining out fun and affordable in the current economic environment. Think bakery meets deli meets cocktail bar all for an affordable price, which is a cause we’re all in for.

Situated in the lively Ponsonby Central, the vibe is relaxed and spacious—expertly crafted in collaboration with Millé. An open kitchen celebrates the chefs behind the magic and the bright neon signs ring home a true diner-esque ambiance. Sammy’s feels like the perfect one-size fits-all approach to dining; you could nip in for a quick lunch, or wine and dine for a long dinner. Whether you’re popping by for a quick coffee or five rounds of espresso martinis with the girls, they’ve got you.

On the beverage scene, Sammy’s are offering tap beer, wine, and cocktails to keep the drinks flowin’. Our pick has to be the spicy margarita which is chilli-infused giving it a subtle kick that’ll have you ordering at least one more round. Non-drinkers, don't fret—there’s a solid lineup of teas, juices and coffees. They’ve got just the drink to hit the spot.

Dive into the food menu and you’ll find the sourdough patty melts—a total knockout and the crowd-pleaser. Think: a patty of your choice (vegans, they’ve got you covered with the Impossible patty) with melted cheese, onions and gherkins slapped onto perfectly toasted sourdough. Yep, our mouths are watering too.

Fans of a classic chicken dish—look no further than the Poultry Roll. A delightful combo of chicken salad, crunchy slaw, and a dolop of mayo. If you’re in the mood for seafood, the Fried Fish Roll will hit the spot with its chunky tartare sauce begging to be scooped up, crisp shredded lettuce, and a rich butter sauce that’s perfect for slathering over the roll. If you were to set yourself up with a one-of-everything sando tasting platter, we'd salute you.

Don't leave without trying the Radicchio and Pumpkin Salad (an utter revelation, by the way). Topped with rocket and hazelnuts on a bed of whipped feta it's texturally diverse and offers a refreshing counterpoint to the heartier fare.

When it comes to the big plates, Sammy’s doesn’t hold back. The Brick Chicken is is exactly what it sounds like—a hunk of chicken sitting on a bed of smoked mash and thick gravy (talk about comfort food). The Steak and Potatoes offers up a bavette steak paired with perfectly herby spuds with a hint of rosemary, complemented by a zesty chimichurri.

Finish your meal on a sweet note with some divine desserts. The Chocolate Pudding with Rice Crispy is a nostalgic nod to childhood treats, while the Apple Crumble Pie with Vanilla Mascarpone Butter feels like a warm hug on a plate. And don’t miss the Frosty Boy Soft Serve with Berries—simple yet sublime. The desserts are all sentimental and comforting, it’s the perfect ending.

You’ll want to try everything on the menu, so gather your whole squad for some feastin’.
