The Verdict

Almost too pretty to eat, the sushi at &Sushi is colourful, fresh and seriously inventive. Light and airy, it is a great lunch break spot for workers and those in need of a break from shopping. There are plenty of options to tempt your taste buds, including their delicious range of dessert sushi.

It’s a Tuesday night in Auckland city but you’d easily mistake it for the weekend at Sumi. The new izakaya spot by owner-chef Jason Lee (Wakuwaku, Katsu Katsu, Tsuru Tsuru) in City Works Depot is humming.

Funny that the first thing I noticed about Kinfolk had little to do with the actual food—rather, it was the artwork on the back wall depicting three women on lilos, eating pasta. I like this place already, had been my immediate thought.
