The Verdict

Located conveniently on Ponsonby Road towards the K-Road intersection lies Tartine Café, up until recently known as Café People. The full service café is known for its French inspiration, drawing from the French word 'Tartine' which literally translates to 'a slice of bread.' French Tartines au Beurre, Charcuterie Platters and Oeuf & Boeuf are some of the French influenced items you will find on the menu at Tartine Café.

The upmarket Tartine Café offers ample outdoor seating, which is a downright rarity around the city. Even more extraordinary is the fact that there is a free parking garage for café goers right next-door. You heard me right. Make Tartine Café your new summer digs. You can even pretend you’re sophisticatedly sitting under the Eiffel Tower sipping bubbly. We won’t tell.

Sumi

It’s a Tuesday night in Auckland city but you’d easily mistake it for the weekend at Sumi. The new izakaya spot by owner-chef Jason Lee (Wakuwaku, Katsu Katsu, Tsuru Tsuru) in City Works Depot is humming.

Kinfolk

Funny that the first thing I noticed about Kinfolk had little to do with the actual food—rather, it was the artwork on the back wall depicting three women on lilos, eating pasta. I like this place already, had been my immediate thought.
