Treat Mum To An Indulgent Mother’s Day Feast At These 5 Sydney Restaurants

By Erin Curtain

Mother’s Day is soon upon us and we know just what she wants: a series of decadent dining experiences worthy of her wonderfulness.

ICYMI, The Star has been rolling out one indulgent offer after the next, and they’re taking it up a notch for Mother’s Day. Expect courses upon courses of gourmet dishes, overflowing seafood towers, bubbling champagne, and every other indulgence your Mum deserves.

Forget the handmade coupons for ‘one free hug’. Give your mum the gift she truly deserves this Mother’s Day: complete and utter luxury.

Sokyo

Let’s kick this indulgent list off with Sokyo’s Mother’s Day Lunch. If decadence was a degustation, you’d be looking at it. This lunch comes with a grand total of nine signature dishes, all more delicious than the last.

Start the meal off with tuna umami accompanied by plum wine jelly and miso kingfish served up with crispy potato. From there the drool-worthy dishes keep on coming, with salmon shungiku, pumpkin tempura, lamb chop, DengakuMan, and Wagyu striploin steak served up one right after the other. Top it all off with the chef’s pick of assorted sushi and caramel macchiato for dessert.

BLACK Bar & Grill

Next up we have BLACK Bar & Grill serving up a literal tower of flavour. Their seafood tower goes well beyond the standard beer-battered fish. Expect levels of fresh prawns, marron, scampi, scallops, oysters, and Moreton Bay bugs. To wash down all that high-end seafood, they will, of course, be serving up the quintessential Mother’s Day drink: NV Moet & Chandon Champagne. Bottoms up.

Flying Fish

Alongside their indulgent long lunch that is sticking around throughout April and May, Flying Fish has prepared another tasty dish to add to their menu for Mother’s Day. Their Mother’s Day entrée champions barbecued Mooloolaba scallops with ginger and green Sichuan condiment. Make sure your mum also tries the Valrhona chocolate ice cream served up with mirin braised cherries, miso caramel, hazelnuts, and caramel ice cream for dessert.

CHUUKA

Another entree designed to tantalise your mum’s tastebuds comes from CHUUKA. They’re making dumplings more luxe than you ever thought possible. We’re talking Hokkaido scallop and prawn Siumai served up with salmon roe and chervil. For an exceptionally boujee experience, order the roe service to follow—trust us, it’s worth it.

Cucina Porto

To top off your Mother’s Day festivities, make your way to Cucina Porto. This authentic Italian restaurant has added two Mother’s Day specials with your mum in mind. Start her off with the iconic bellini splash which combines peach sorbet with prosecco. While she’s sipping happily, add some drama to the affair with king prawns flambeed at the table in brandy sauce. Pyrotechnics and bellinis—what could go wrong?
