Anzac Park Is Set For A $6 Million Makeover

Anzac Park in West Ryde is about to get a major glow up... sorry, wrong list — a major upgrade. The 90-year-old green space is set for a $6 million transformation, with the NSW Government unveiling the final concept design this week.

Why Anzac Park Is Getting An Upgrade

The redesign delivers on a state election commitment to revamp one of West Ryde's most treasured open spaces, all while protecting the ANZAC memorial that sits at its heart. The goal is to keep the park a place for both recreation and reflection as the local population continues to grow.

The final design was developed with City of Ryde Council, drawing on two rounds of community consultation and more than 300 submissions from locals.

What The New Anzac Park Will Look Like

Once complete, the park will feature:

  • Upgraded pedestrian paths
  • More seating, shade and gathering spaces
  • A new fitness zone
  • A welcoming park entrance
  • Improved BBQ facilities
  • A new, modern and accessible amenities building

The upgrade forms part of the NSW Government's broader investment in open space across the state, which includes $520 million for open space and active transport in Transport Oriented Development precincts, $200 million through the Faster Assessments Incentive Program, and $40 million through the Better Open Spaces program.

The project has been framed by the NSW Government as part of its wider push to ensure growing suburbs like Ryde have access to quality green space that keeps pace with new housing, giving residents somewhere to stay active and connected close to home.

City of Ryde Council has also pointed to the strong community input behind the final design, with local feedback playing a direct role in shaping the park's new look.

When Will Construction Start

City of Ryde Council will manage and deliver construction, with completion expected in 2028.

For a park that's been a fixture of West Ryde for nine decades, this upgrade marks a new chapter,  one that keeps its heritage intact while giving the community the modern green space it's been waiting for.
