What’s Inside Picklr Cronulla?

This isn't a couple of pickleball nets squeezed onto spare tennis courts. Picklr Cronulla has been purpose-built around the sport, with 11 permanently installed indoor courts, professional coaching and structured programs catering to everyone from complete beginners to competitive players.

There are also change rooms, a pro shop and community room, with the venue designed to give the rapidly growing local pickleball community a permanent place to play.

According to Australian Sports Commission AusPlay data cited by Picklr, pickleball is currently Australia's fastest-growing sport by participation. The Sutherland Shire already has one of the country's largest pickleball clubs, but players have largely relied on portable nets and shared community facilities—making the Shire a natural choice for Picklr's Australian debut.

Picklr Cronulla Is Throwing A Free Grand Opening

If you've been pickleball-curious but haven't quite committed to buying a paddle, Saturday, 29 August is your chance to see what all the fuss is about.

From 11am to 4pm, all 11 courts will be open for free play, with paddles and balls provided. There'll also be free beginner lessons and Pickleball 101 sessions, junior clinics, skills challenges, competitions and exhibition matches featuring Picklr pros and PPA Tour players Mitch Hargreaves and Andie Dikosavljevic.

Off the court, expect food trucks, coffee, a live DJ, face painting and giveaways, plus an official ribbon cutting and ceremonial first serve. Entry is free and you don't need to register beforehand.

Picklr Plans To Open 50 Clubs Across Australia And New Zealand

Cronulla is only the starting point for the US-born brand. Picklr says it has more than 500 clubs sold or operating across North America, and its Australian and New Zealand master franchise is now planning up to 50 locations across the two countries.

Sydney is already getting another one, with Picklr Brookvale set to serve the Manly and Warringah area as the next location in the rollout.

So, if pickleball hasn't already infiltrated your group chat, there's a good chance it's coming.
