A Free 5-Day Street Party Is Taking Over The Cahill Expressway

By Sammy Preston

12th Dec 2022

Crowds gather on the Cahill Expressway for the Elevate Sydney festival

Summer in Sydney is looking the goods. After a successful traffic-stopping inaugural festival in January of this year, the NSW Government has announced ELEVATE Sydney will be returning next month to celebrate summer and the new year.

The multi-day street party is hosted on the Cahill Expressway, with unmatched views over sparkly Sydney Harbour.

To make way for ELEVATE, the busy city highway, which splits the city and the water, will be closed off to cars and opened up to foot traffic only from Tuesday 3 January to Saturday 7 January with a lineup of live DJs, live music, and family-friendly activities.

On the lineup is Amy Shark, Mallrat, Becca Hatch, Betty Who, Client Liaison (DJ), Drax Project, Mallrat, Thelma Plum, The Veronicas, and more.

“Whether you are after family-friendly entertainment, afternoon DJ sessions, or high-energy performances by renowned artists as the sun sets and into the night, ELEVATE Sydney will ride the wave of the new year buzz all week long,” Minster for Tourism Ben Franklin said in a statement.
