Sydney is no longer a snow-less city this winter, with the Greenwood Hotel hosting 10 days of winter wonderland fun at their Snow Festival. Grab a warm coat to check out alpine-, Aspen- and Canada-themed events, market stalls, DJ sets, and food and drink specials alongside real snow—50 tonnes, to be exact.
There'll also be a free, 20-metre toboggan slide, perfect for the kids and even better for adults wanting some adrenaline-rushing fun.
With a lineup of DJs playing a range of music from modern Aussie hits to nostalgic Daft Punk throwbacks, you’ll have plenty of chances to jam throughout the entire festival. The variety of activities held each day will also keep your body moving, with a massive snow-filled Sunday sesh on 29 June, and Shania Twain-themed line dancing on Tuesday 1 July, and a free Winter Wonderland party with $6 drinks on Thursday 3 July.
Saturday 28 June will celebrate everything Canadian, with the whole day dedicated to Sydney’s most elaborate Canada Day party. Celebrating for 10 hours straight with entry from $15, the festivities feature iconic foods like perogies and poutine, along with DJs playing non-stop Canadian classics. There is even a chance to win a return flight as one of many prizes for the Canadian-themed trivia, street hockey tournament and game shows.
If sitting back or perusing is more your style, then the Snow Festival’s night markets will be your thrill. Spanning across five consecutive nights between 30 June and 4 July, let the taste of mulled wine and warm street food carry you through the stalls full of clothing, art and trinkets while live music and glowing lights decorate the space.
With plenty of free events and a handful of ticketed ones, mark these festival dates into your calendar for a special, snowy experience in Sydney this winter.
