Oxford Street Is Set To Be Home To Two New Weekly Markets
Sydney is definitely privy to a long line-up of beautiful markets and if you’ve been around long enough, you’ll remember Taylor Square was once buzzing with weekend markets — a beloved local ritual that’s been missing for far too long. Now, it’s making its return, bringing back that open-air energy with a new wave of stalls, music and community spirit.
Along with all its other epic developments (The Palomar for one, is a heavyweight we think you should know about) the strip will see two new weekly markets kick off at Taylor Square:
- Oxford Street Night Market: a new night market from 5pm to 10pm (starting October 31)
- Oxford Street Market: a new weekly farmer's market from 8am to 2pm (starting November 8)
Filling up that Halloween schedule, Oxford Street’s Friday night markets will be opening this upcoming Friday 31 October, from 5pm until 10pm, bringing spooky treats and beats to launch the start of this new regular nighttime fun. Continuing on to their regular Fridays, you can expect live performances from our local Aussie musicians, stalls of treats both savoury and delectably sweet (for that end-of-week pick-me-up), and plenty of fashionable pieces to browse–your new favourite earrings and unique home decor await. To top it off, the crowd-favourite Oxford Hotel will be sharing its licence with the area, which means glasses of good ol’ wine are yours to leisurely sip while perusing.
When Saturday rolls around, Taylor Square Farmers’ Market will be the place to start your weekend. Opening from 8am to 2pm from Saturday 8 November, it’s the perfect spot to grab a morning coffee, soak up the sunshine, and fill your basket with fresh local produce, seasonal flowers, and artisanal goods.
Whether you’re stocking up for a weekend lunch or hunting for something special to brighten your home, the market’s mix of food, art, and handmade wares makes it an easy Saturday ritual. And the best part? It’s dog-friendly, so your four-legged mate can join in on the strolls and market buzz.
Organised by Organic Food Markets and directed by the same nifty minds that run markets like those at Kings Cross and even Polkobin, these two new markets are set to bring a pleasant addition to Oxford Street’s social sphere.
