If you thought 2021 might be a quiet one, think again. A massive month-long festival with a whole bunch of pop-up gigs is coming to Sydney and, spoiler alert, tickets are going for $25 a pop.

Called Sunset Piazza, this outdoor pop-up venue is set to kick off Thursday 28 January and will host a series of live performances spanning music, comedy, cabaret and opera. As its name might suggest, Sunset Piazza will be slinging a pretty strong Italian vibe so you can expect bucketloads of cannoli from local artisans, the odd afternoon aperitivo and a slew of coastal spritz concoctions and Negronis.

To start, the tunes line-up is looking like Alex The Astronaut, Allday, Cumbiamuffin, Ensemble Offspring, JK-47, Kwame, Peking Duk and Sneaky Sound System, with more to come. There’s also a number of Comedy Gala sessions featuring Tahir, Lawrence Mooney, Merrick Watts, Floyd Alexander-Hunt and Bec Charlwood, the Umbilical Brothers, Akmal, Lizzy Hoo and Rebecca de Unamuno. You’ll also catch Heaps Gay bringing their iconic born-out-of-iso Live N’ Queer series to life in a full show with Jordan Raskopoulos, Nic Kelly, Sharon Manhattan and Felecia Foxx.

Face masks will be mandatory at Sunset Piazza and the event will be following COVID-safe practices and guidelines throughout the month.
