Urban List Coronavirus Update

To all of our Urban Listers,

How are you going out there?

These are strange times so we wanted to take a moment to connect. Because more than ever before, connectivity is everything.

On Sunday, Vivid Sydney was officially cancelled for 2020. Today David Walsh closed MONA for the foreseeable future. So far this week, my inbox has been flooded with cancellations—Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Fisher’s Beach Party, Blues Fest and Sydney’s Craft Drinks Market are the latest (we have a rolling list here for you), and I’m sure there will be more to come as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves.

While this year has been rife with unprecedented and unique devastation, what we do know is that life in Sydney will no doubt be a little different in days and weeks to come—but this doesn’t mean living your best life has to be cancelled too. Far from it.

Urban List is your guide to living your best life—connecting you to your city, your passions, your interests, and ultimately, to each other. And we’ll be right here, helping you to do just that now, tomorrow, next week and into the future.

From now, you can expect us to be stacking you up with loads of recommendations on:

  • How To Live Your Best Life In Social Isolation
  • How To Support Your City—The Restaurants, The Arts And Small Businesses—Safely
  • How To Work From Home Like A Boss (Without Losing Your Mind)
  • All Your Post-Corona World Planning (Because There Is Light At The End Of The Tunnel)

It’s important to follow official health advice, stay home if you’re unwell, be vigilant with hygiene and stay informed through reliable, balanced news sources. But don’t forget to also give yourself a break from heavy headlines and social media if you’re feeling overwhelmed, and most of all, find time to enjoy the things you’ve always enjoyed in Sydney whenever and however it is safe to still do so.

Our hospitality and creative industries are suffering. They mean the world to us, and we know they mean everything to you. It’s really important right now to show your love for Sydney and regional NSW businesses and spend and shop and eat and drink local when you can. These twisted times will be hardest on them and following the bushfire season, drought and years of lockouts, they need all the support they can get.

If you’re a business owner with a promotion or a creative concept for life in the COVID-19 world, get in touch with us, because we want to hear about it.

So wash your hands, get lots of sleep, drink lots of water, exercise, soak up the sunshine and a little or a lot of wine, and, as the Italians have done, bellow your favourite tunes from your balcony or your backyard because another thing that’s true is—we’re all in this together.

And just as sweet, heavy rain came along to put out all the fires (crazy floods aside)—we will get through this Sydney, one take-out or homemade beer, wine, burger, bowl of pasta and espresso martini at a time.

Want to chat? Talk us through your best cocktail recipe, your business idea or your work from home wishes? Don’t be a stranger—connect with us. Send us an email, tag us in your posts, or shoot us an Instagram or Facebook message. Your best life starts here.
