Featuring over 100 artists and activations across two jam-packed days and 13 stages, Katoomba’s epic Winter Magic Revival Festival is back—and it's the perfect excuse to make plans to roll up to the Blue Mountains for a winter weekend getaway.
With starry night skies, cosy pubs with fireplaces, frosty hikes, and restaurants worth travelling for—the Blue Mountains in winter are always pretty magical. For one weekend in August, however, the Winter Magic Revival Festival will dial it up a notch with light shows, cosy gigs, art installations, and heaps more peppered throughout Katoomba village.
Headling the festival are Blue Mountains natives, Hermitude. Also on the bill is Haiku Hands, Urthboy, and Vlossom, a pop-psych project from Nick Littlemore (PNAU, Empire Of The Sun) and Alister Wright (Cloud Control).
A major highlight of the program is Resonant Wave—a free after-dark music and art event taking over the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre for one night only on Saturday 27 August.
From 4pm until late, the courtyard will glow with ethereal light and sound installations by local artists Tania Mason, Ona Janzen, Eddie Abd, and Peachey & Mosig, while local acts Deepsea Lights, Sonori, and Tania Wilds, perform alongside the projections. Fresh from performing at Dark Mofo, Melbourne’s experimental contemporary and classical composer Tilman Robinson will wrap up the night.
On Sunday 28 August, the Cultural Centre will play host to the Winter Wollemi Markets from 10am, with local artists and craft sessions happening throughout the day.
