The chilly season is here, and honestly, we’re into it. The cold’s crept in, sure, but so has one of Sydney’s cosiest winter pop-ups. From Friday 23 May to Saturday 14 June, World Square is transforming into a whimsical Firepit Garden complete with crackling open fires, boozy drinks, sizzling snacks, snow showers, and a whopping 35,000 free marshmallows (if you get in quick enough).
Round up your crew and snag a spot by one of ten toasty fire pits—each throwing off just enough heat to chase the chill away. Roast marshmallows ‘til you get that perfect gooey-golden ratio while sipping hot chocolate, cocktails and mocktails from the warm chalet hut.
Each pit doubles as your own private dining table, with QR codes to order food straight to your fire from nearby World Square restaurants. Dig into Fishbowl’s OG chicken, salmon and tofu bowls with a signature pop drink on the house, or go for the Bavarian’s melt-in-your-mouth pork belly slices with creamy mash.
There’s also brothy tonkotsu-style ramen from Ramen Zundo and deep-fried Korean snowy wings from Gami Chicken. If you’re ballin’ on a budget, you can even bring your own snacks to feast on fireside.
Finish it all off with a sweet treat like a silky crème brûlée cheese tart, strawberry matcha pafu and Nutella choux from Hokkaido X PAFU, pistachio gelato from Venchi or a brown sugar pearl milk tea from Gong Cha.
Alpine-inspired decor will cover the glowing winter wonderland, including a cannon that erupts in bursts of snowflakes, blanketing the garden in frosty magic right in the middle of the city.
Free live entertainment will also take over the Firepit Garden every Thursday and Friday evening from 4:30pm to 7:30pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 1.30pm to 7pm. Keep an eye on World Square’s Instagram for updates.
Sticking around for just three weeks, Firepit Garden is the ultimate winter hangout, and it’s completely free to attend. There’s no booking system—just rock up and claim your pit.
