We refuse to admit that Melbourne does food better than Sydney—it’s against the ‘Sydney is way better/cooler/tastier than Melbourne’ code. But every so often, they send one of their winners up the coast to our waiting hungry bellies and we’d be lying if we said that we weren’t rapt about it. This time, it’s 8bit. You might know them as the arcade gaming slash ridiculously good burger joint and if you don’t, well you’re about to.
According to our mates in Melbourne (ahem, these guys) 8bit’s CBD outpost is known to have lines out the door every single day. So yeah, if it’s good enough for our southern comrades, then it’s damn well good enough for us.
It’ll be going down at Darling Square from April 2018 and while we don’t know an exact open date yet, this is what we do know. The 130-seater (oh yeah, it’ll be big) will have an outdoor area, be fully licensed (because beer + burger = hell yes) and have a menu filled with onion rings, hot dogs and those burgers that we’ve already mentioned fifteen times.
Our hot tip is that you hightail it straight for the altered beast, with beef, bacon, cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, 8bit sauce, AND BBQ sauce—with cheese and bacon fries on the side and a Nutella milkshake while you wait. This is going to be gooooood.
