The Verdict:
Randy's Wine Bar has closed its chapter, and in its place comes Casa De, a new all-day haunt for coffee, wine, small plates and everything in between. It's the end of an era, sure, but the beginning of a very promising new one.
Casa De is open seven days a week from 7am till late, kicking off mornings with proper coffee (beans by St. Ali) alongside treats like Butterboy Cookies, Tuga Portuguese tarts and an apple and coconut bircher. From 10am, things shift gear into small plates, wine and cocktails, with the kitchen leaning on quality local suppliers including Hang Ten, La Banette and Avalon Brewery.
The small plates menu is all about letting good ingredients do the talking, think South Coast oysters, Iberico jamón, a trio of salamis (kangaroo, duck and wild boar), whipped goats cheese with hot honey, and a trio of cheeses served with quince paste and focaccia. The wine list ranges across Australia and Europe, covering everything from skin-contact drops to chilled reds, plus a run of house cocktails and low-ABV options for something lighter.
Whether you're after a morning coffee, an afternoon glass of wine or a late-night plate to share, Casa De is shaping up to be the neighbourhood's new go-to.
