The Verdict

To experience Oktoberfest any day of the year, Munich Brauhaus in The Rocks has all the bier, schnapps and schnitzel you could want. Like any good Munich bier hall, there’s an oompah band to keep your spirits high while you hold a pretzel in one had and a stein in the other.

If you’re feeling hungry (and brave) take a seat on one of the long benches and share the schlachtplatte, a meat plate filled with all the Bavarian specialties from pork belly, pork knuckle and potatoes to sausages, schnitzel and sauerkraut and some bread dumplings popped on just for good measure.

Don't miss the Munich Brauhaus second birthday celebrations, (they grow up so fast!), this Friday 19th August. With a three hour happy hour, that's a whole lot of happiness, a beer tower, and a live ice sculpture you won't want to miss this. Click here for all the details you need and to book.

Bar Demo

Bar Demo is a late-night vinyl bar in Newtown, designed for lovers of a well-crafted drink without the fuss. Owners Claudia Morgan and Olly Churcher (Ex-Double Deuce Lounge) are bartenders by trade, so there’s faith to be had in their curated 60-bottle wine list and seasonally crafted cocktails. The venue itself has grown from their joint experiences working and sipping in some of Sydney’s best bars—Morgan says “we wanted somewhere open late where we could buy a bottle without sitting down for a meal, sink some martinis, listen to some interesting music or have a dance”. Bar Demo certainly checks all of the boxes: open 5pm—midnight, Wednesday—Saturday, with no full kitchen but a dedicated menu for snacks, and a soundtrack of full albums played on vinyl, with each night featuring a curated selection of tunes.
