Apéritif & Co is a female-owned wine and cocktail bar bringing Euro-inspired wine culture out of the CBD and into the Inner West.
The team of hospitality vets — Valerie Deeks, Versha Gupta, and Camille Bahier — have created a space where thoughtful wine from around the world, inventive small plates and casual alfresco hangs neatly all come together.
PR might tell you, “It’s a love letter to the European ritual of l’apéritif, the golden pause between day and night,” but Apéritif & Co is part of a bigger cultural shift: Sydney’s inner suburbs are embracing spaces that mix elevated drinks with approachable, social dining. The people are craving bars that function as hangouts, neighbourhood hubs and destinations all at once. Apéritif & Co captures that zeitgeist perfectly.
The wine list, curated by award-winning sommelier Kasia Sobiesiak, spans Europe and beyond, featuring cheeky selections like ‘fuck the patriarchy’ pinot noir. Pair tasting flights with dishes like burrata ravioli in parmesan cream, baked tomino with finger lime, or polpo del fuego with smoky romesco.
Set in Summer Hill, a neighbourhood gaining a cosmopolitan edge thanks to spots like Postino and Lotus Dumpling Bar, Apéritif & Co is proof that Sydney’s Euro-inspired wine bars are spreading into new suburbs, giving locals a European-style night out without the city commute.
