the verdict
Fun fact: back in the day (like wayyyy back) when the First Fleet landed in Australia, Sydney’s Kent Street was called Back Row West. And now, a café has come to the city that’s named after this #iconic time.
The man behind a couple of the city’s eateries, Merchants of Ultimo and The Gardens, Bobby Volcevski has whipped up a fabulous mix of the historical and contemporary for this brand new locale. FYI, this is where to head in the CBD when you want to slow down and escape the city rush.
This spot is open for breakfast, lunch and drinks in the evening, so we’ll just start at the beginning and work our way through for you. The brekky is packed with classics—all with a healthy spin. Think protein pancakes with all the fruit on top, avo bruschetta and a couple of smoothie bowls.
Lunch is a similar story, with Albacore tuna poké bowls and crispy-skinned Tasmanian salmon. In the evenings, these clever people are using the same delicious juices from the morning, in cocktails like mandarin mojitos and spicy margaritas.
AND the entire menu is made from produce that’s Australian and locally-sourced (talk about patriotic).
