Baptist Street Rec. Club is a retro Redfern bar taking inspo from ‘80s and ‘90s Australiana. It’s in the Wunderlich Lane lifestyle precinct, upstairs from House Made Hospitality sibling venue Island Radio—there’s even a secret staircase between them.

Throwback cocktails like Japanese Slippers, White Russians and daiquiris are very much the vibe, with a selection of signature sips and monthly specials also available alongside local wines and a range of beers.

“We’ve created a venue that’s for the people, not the bartenders,” says House Made Hospitality’s beverage director Jason Williams. “These drinks are fresh, well-made, and approachable—designed to bring levity and fun, not pretension.”

The food menu echoes the profile of Island Radio, with a Thai-inspired selection of snacks evoking ‘80s favourites like spring rolls, money bags, chicken satay skewers, and fish cakes, plus share platters from $36.

The Australiana decor and details include warm orange carpet, gig flyers, cult movie posters, and iconic ads, wood panelling, and vintage sports trophies suspended from the ceiling. Live bands, vinyl DJs, and clearing out the high tables to make room for dancing are on the cards regularly, too.
