The verdict
Another notch has been added to Barangaroo’s bedpost, with the opening of European-style food emporium, Bel & Brio. We’re talking 800 square metres of wining, dining, take away and shopping and it is one of the only places in the area that you can head to, to pick up your weekly essentials, a morning coffee or a quick lunch. Once the sun goes down they’re even serving wine and cocktails as well as a light dinner.
Bel & Brio is divided into five sections, each named so you will have no trouble finding the area you need to be in. Bar and dining will serve a lunch and dinner made from share plates, with dishes like crispy pork belly making an appearance on the menu and cellars will play host to 2000 wines and will focus on Italian, French and Australian wines. For anyone in a rush, you’ll want to head straight for the eatery, marketplace and Coffee & Co for fresh takeaways, grocery essentials and coffee and pastries respectively. Oh, and they also do catering (we know).
The fit out is inspired by the great European food halls and is classically elegant with its mix of timbers, brass, and copper, polished concrete and marble. But although it’s very much an urban slash industrial, a genuine farm to table philosophy sits firmly at its heart; with plans to source fresh produce directly from the Central Coast. On that note, they’re also making chemical-free produce a priority, with seasonal vegetables and pasture-raised eggs from chickens that roam and forage freely, as they should.
