We’re not going to sugarcoat it. This is an actual adult’s playground equipped with bright colours, fun challenges, and of course—freshly ground coffee. Say hello to your newest weekend hang.
Blochaus bouldering, though new to the Sydney scene, is by no means a newbie on the fitness front. Having already set up shop in Melbourne and Canberra, this place has earned a big name for itself in the climbing and bouldering world for being accessible, easy and fun rather than niche and scary and only reserved for pros. And just like its predecessors, Blochaus Marrickville will sport bouldering, functional fitness, training, coaching, padded slacklines, a gear shop, and cafe—all under the one roof.
The kaleidoscopic warehouse is jam-packed with all the challenges—think indoor rock climbing but with shorter walls and padded mats (ie. no ropes or gear to get in your way). The Marrickville spot offers 850 square metres of bouldering—a fun, challenging and rewarding activity that combines rock climbing with shorter walls and padded mats, so no need for ropes, partners, or other gear.
As for what you’ll be climbing at Blochaus Marrickville, expect to see an 8-metre padded slackline, campus and pegboards, a 12x12 adjustable kilter board, a specialised training area and a super-impressive 45-degree-angle all-wood climbing wall.
Anyone can hit the walls here, regardless of their experience. If you are new to the bouldering way of life, the crew here keeps climbing shoes and chalk you can hire out for a session.
