Cafenome

The verdict

Hiding in plain sight, Cafenome is one of the newest cafes to set up camp on the inner west and south Sydney cusp in Tempe. Serving up delicious house-roasted coffee and a concise menu of brunch classics, this is where you need to head this weekend. Trust us. 

Don’t let the menu fool you because hiding behind the ‘simple avo’ name is something very different. Think two slices of toasted Brasserie Bread sourdough topped with fresh AF avo, a not-so-simple avocado and tomato salsa and two soft-poached eggs. If you truly do want to keep it simple, then the banana and date porridge is your best option and at the other end of the spectrum is the rostada. This bad boy is an onion and potato rosti topped with a fried egg, sour cream, lime and paprika—it’s a yes from us. 

The fit out is minimalist, and if you’re still putting off cleaning your apartment for the third month in a row (#guilty) then this will also be calming. At least it was for us. From the exposed raw timber beams to the lush greenery dotted around the café and the smell of fresh coffee. That last one isn’t strictly related to the fit out, but hey, it’s definitely calming.
