The Verdict

The latest addition to Sydney’s speciality coffee scene, Caffeine Villains Espresso Bar have just thrown open their doors in Newport and it's right across the road from the beach (winning!).

Husband and wife team, Alberto and Barbara Fuerte know a thing or two about coffee which is why they’re shipping in some of Melbourne’s best beans from St. Ali—because nobody got the time for average coffee. And to mix things up, they also have a few regular guest roasters on rotation (honestly, these guys just get us).

For food, the menu is as healthy as you make it, with options like green smoothies and paleo granola with fruit and kefir yoghurt all on the cards. We won’t force you to take the alternative road by ordering the katsu burger with homemade slaw, Japanese mayo, katsu BBQ sauce on a charcoal bun, but we’ll be disappointed if you don’t. It’s called balance, people.

Even though Caffeine Villains is the new kid on the block, these guys have been in the coffee and café game for yonks so we can promise this one is top notch. Now, the only thing left to do is sit back in the courtyard, sip your pour over and down that katsu burger—you know we’re right.
