Capybara Bathing is a communal bathhouse and wellness hub in Surry Hills, inspired by age-old traditions of communal bathing culture and its namesake, the social and friendly little animals who also enjoy a hot soak.
Perfect as part of a wellness routine, post-workout recovery, or a quiet moment of self-care, the facilities include a warm magnesium bath, cold plunge pool, steam room, hot stone sauna and a heated lounge space with an ice well, with a beautiful palette of natural tones and textures throughout.
It’s not onsen-style—you’ll need to wear swimmers in this bathhouse—and you can BYO towel and robe or hire both for a small fee. The environment was designed to be tranquil and relaxing, but not stiff or anti-social; a sense of community is a big focus.
Visits to Capybara Bathing start at $65 per 90-minute session for a drop-in visit, with packages and membership options available for those who plan on coming back more often.
