The verdict
What do you get when you combine a French baguette with the flavours and ingredients of Vietnamese home-style cooking? The banh – a delicious Vietnamese, French inspired bread that is turning pastry aficionados to the East to cure those carby cravings.
The beauty of Chao Ba’s famous banhs however, are offering Westerners a different type of carb – one that’s entirely dairy and gluten free, so we’re sure they’re good for us, right?
With recipes that have been passed down through generations, the Maikim family, owners of Chao Ba are certainly doing something right.
The banhs themselves are just as beautiful as they taste, with colourful offerings gracing each plate, bringing the best of Vietnamese street food to the city of Sydney. With Asian herbs picked from the on-site gardens, you can be sure the dishes here are fresh!
And, the offerings don’t stop at the banhs. There’s also handmade rice paper rolls, filled with fresh and flavoursome ingredients, dumplings, salads and even pho on offer, so you can be sure everyone here is catered for.
