The verdict
Bunking down in the Noma pop-up space, the duo behind Bentley, Monopole and Yellow are offering new casual dining at their restaurant in Barangaroo, Cirrus. Sustainable seafood is showcased in a menu made for sharing. Try the Morteon Bay bugs with house-made XO sauce, or mud crabs steamed and tossed with green garlic and tarragon sauce. The constantly changing menu has an equally finger-licking offering of meat and veg, with whole roasted cauliflowers with sesame paste and savoury granola on offer.
The wine list is led by one of the nation’s leading sommeliers, Hidlebrandt, which is heavy on white wines perfect for seafood. Avoiding comparisons of its predecessor, the space has been revitalised, with a warmer and more eclectic tone in the interior.
While creating a restaurant in the footprint of Noma would be touch challenging, it looks like this duo isn’t getting too fazed at all. Onwards and upwards!
