The verdict

Cubby’s Kitchen has packed up their Crown Street locale and they're headed for the CBD (yes, this is reason enough to excite you) with their modern take on Lebanese classics, as you'd expect. Matt Yazbek, the founder of the Toko Group AKA some of Sydney’s best Japanese restaurants, will continue to explore his Lebanese heritage at this new restaurant.

Keeping it in the family, Yazbek has gone into partnership with his two sisters, Diala and Amanda (owners of Crown Street Fish Shop) and will be creating a menu based on family recipes. Even their mother (Mouna, affectionately known as Cubby, hence the name) and brother, Richard will be helping out with the day to day. Plus, they've just welcomed former rugby league ledge, Anthony Watmough.

Just like their first venue, you can expect delicious things like miso baba ganoush, fattoush salad (with a dome of toasted pita smashed right at the table), plus a few new additions. Think Cubby's oysters with a pomegranate and chilli lemon sauce, their special hummus with pulled lamb and their crispy fried chicken spiced with za'atar, sweet paprika and garlic aioli.

Before you ask, yes they're still doing BYO for groups of four or more and there'll be a nine-course feast on offer AND express platters for $25.
