The Verdict
Melbourne’s fave spicy noodle spot, Dainty Sichuan, has finally opened its doors in Sydney’s World Square. Lovers of all things Sichuan and spice will want to get their hands on the signature Chongqing noodles, which feature traditional ramen noodles, fresh bok choy and the intensely flavourful but mouth-numbing chicken chilli broth. FYI, the burning sensation comes from the Sichuan pepper, and not the actual chilli. You’ve been warned—this one is not for the faint hearted.
Along with bok choy and noodles for fillings, the other stars of the show are stewed pork belly, pickled veg, and if you’re feeling adventurous—pig ears. If spice just ain’t your thing, opt for the mushroom broth instead which is jam packed with chicken thigh pieces and shiitake mushrooms that won’t burn your tastebuds off.
We’re expecting out-the-door queues on the daily for this joint, as the spice packs a punch but even if your mouth is on fire, it’s totally worth it.
