The verdict
Stanley Street in Darlinghurst is the street that keeps on delivering. With a number of Sydney’s best restaurants gracing the strip, Downstairs has made itself at home serving up modern British cuisine. Stepping into this British-centric restaurant, British band posters, bowler hat lights and comfy railway style booths instantly make you feel like you’ve been transported to the UK.
Head in on Sundays for a traditional roast with all the trimmings for only $20 or drop by mid week for modern takes on classic English dishes – kedgeree croquettes with Bombay hazelnuts, pork tenderloin and scallops with cauliflower cream are all standouts.
