The upstairs space at The London in Paddington has featured everything from a Chur Burger pop-up to a wine bar. East London is a new Sichuan-style eatery that does Chinese food in a modern way. Executive chef, Jack Steer (ex Press Club, Spice Temple, Chin Chin, China Doll and Rockpool Bar & Grill, whew!) heads up the kitchen and has created Chinese comfort food that's been designed to share. Dishes include drowned fish with dried chilli, shallot, bean sprout and chicken broth, grilled lamb neck with tofu skin, bean sprouts and chilli oil and crispy Sichuan duck with pickled cucumber salad and five spice.
To wash it all down, the cocktail list should be in your sights. With Asian-inspired cocktails which feature yuzu sake, Thai basil and palm sugar as some of the ingredients, you can expect a whole host of delicious flavours with essentially any cocktail you choose.
