The verdict
East Ocean has long been one of Sydney's most famous Chinese restaurants situated in the heart of Chinatown and specialising, as you might guess, in seafood dishes, though there's plenty to love on the menu here. By morning the vast two-room establishment is turned over to an authentic yum cha experience with an assortment of steamed and fried dumplings, vegetables, seafood and desserts, with a menu-order system (rather than trolleys) ensuring freshness; later in the day is a fine dining menu with stir-fried, barbecued, poached and steamed dishes alongside an award-winning wine list.
