Australia’s luxury wellness scene is getting a new addition on Sydney’s coastline, with the opening of Èliva inside the InterContinental on Coogee Beach. But rather than adopting the standard hotel spa formula of massages and facials, this new space is taking a much broader approach—landing somewhere between a luxury day spa and a high-end recovery club.

Built around the pillars of rest, recovery and invigoration, Èliva's Coogee location places a heavier focus on performance-led wellness and personalised experiences. Treatement begins at the Signature Herbal Ritual Bar, where guests create tailored essential oil blends with therapists before treatments even begin—setting the tone for a more customised experience from the outset.

The treatment rooms themselves are highly flexible, with adjustable lighting, music and temperature settings alongside options to add wellness technologies like LED light therapy and PEMF treatments.

The real draw, however, is their thermal wellness facilities: three magnesium mineral pools, a salt sauna, infrared sauna, cold plunge baths, crystal steam rooms and vitamin C-infused showers all sit within the experience.

Then there’s the recovery lounge, fitted out with compression boots, vibroacoustic therapy, LED facial masks and infrared PEMF mats—bringing some of the wellness tech previously reserved for boutique longevity clinics into a hotel setting.

Positioned just moments from Coogee Beach, the concept also extends beyond the spa walls, with guests able to tap into coastal walks, ocean swims and hotel wellness offerings designed around movement and recovery.

As the wellness landscape continues moving beyond occasional pampering and toward more integrated experiences, Èliva is setting a new benchmark for day spas in Sydney—and we certainly aren't complaining.
