Bar Elvina

The Verdict:

Set in the heart of Avalon, Bar Elvina is a Mediterranean-inspired escape, complete with a vinyl bar, private garden dining experience.

This spring, the bistro and cocktail bar is rolling out a refreshed menu under new Head Chef Priya Ferris-Halliday. Expect a spread of shared snacks and small plates that lean into bold, Mediterranean flavours, from charcoal-roasted Jersey halloumi with honey and hazelnut to fried sardines with salmoriglio sauce, padrón peppers with stracciatella and sherry vinegar, and steak tartare with Turkish pepper, crème fraîche and chips.

Mains continue the seasonal approach with market fish in sauce vierge, shawarma-spiced lamb tomahawk with tzatziki, gnocchetti with baby zucchini, mint and chilli pangrattato, and spatchcock chicken with spring pea, crème fraîche and salted lemon.

Bar Elvina is also expanding, with a new rooftop garden bar currently under construction. Meanwhile, its monthly Wine Dinner series brings rotating suppliers, producers and winemakers into the Private Dining Room for evenings of matched pours and shared plates. The first dinner was held in partnership with Veuve Clicquot, with a new collaborator set to take the spotlight each month.
