The verdict

Fratelli Fresh is a household name when it comes to fresh produce and Italian fine foods, and it’s developed quite the cult following. So, it's no surprise their Walsh Bay venue is hailed as the go-to destination for a deliciously authentic Italian experience in Sydney.

This year, Fratelli Fresh is hosting a four-course 'Long Table Series' across Sydney, showcasing all the feels and flavours of Italy, and Fratelli Fresh Walsh Bay will play host to their Tuscany spread – so there’s no need to book that ticket to the Tuscan Hills (although, always a good idea).

When asked about the all-important research and inspiration for the series, Fratelli Fresh’s Head Chef, Gabor Denes, says he and his team researched each idyllic location heavily. "Each region of Italy delivers its own vibrant flavours and produce, and we want that to shine through in all of our 'Long Table Series' menus. As a child, I was fascinated by the interesting and dynamic flavours to come out of Italy. I am honoured that today I can create menus and cook delicious food that rings true to the foundations of great Italian cooking.”

A nod to the local, rustic approach to cooking, Fratelli Fresh's Tuscan menu is both hearty and ultra-delizioso. The standout? The bistecca alla Florentine. Revered as the epitome of Tuscan steaks, this tantalising T-bone is served medium rare, and paired with crispy, twice-cooked potatoes and Brussels sprouts (*drools*). To say the bistecca is mouth-wateringly juicy would be an understatement. Oh, and did we mention the four-course menu includes bottomless cocktails, prosecco, wine and beer all for $79pp?! Sign us up! Fratelli Fresh's creamy espresso martinis are among our faves, while their negronis are second to none.

If you can't make the 'Long Table Series', never fear, our Italian-loving friends! Fratelli Fresh Walsh Bay doesn’t discriminate against days of the week and is open every day ending with a y. Their ever-evolving menu has everything from cheesy pastas (hello lobster spaghetti and penne with lamb ragù) to drool-worthy pizzas, like their famed capricciosa and quattro formaggi. And it’s not all cheese and carbs (although, who’s complaining?!). Fratelli Fresh continues to deliver the goods no matter what the season. Expect the finest pressed olive oils, scrumptious veggies, fresh salads and decadent Italian desserts to accompany your moreish mains all year round. Oh, and did we mention they have a $5 (not a typo!) happy hour from 4pm 'til 6pm during the week, which includes espresso martinis, Aperol spritz and negronis?! You're welcome.

Whether it’s a lazy luncheon, dinner date or just an excuse to get the gang together (like you need one), Fratelli Fresh is a solid choice to get your spritz on and say: “Salute!”.
