The Verdict
Yo Sydney, we know you love a party and so does our old friend Goodbar that is set to reopen in September, 2016. So get your dancing shoes at the ready, because this much loved venue (which is exempt of Sydney’s boring AF lockout laws) is going to be putting on a show for us yet again post a full refurb that has been taking place since it last shut up shop as one of Sydney’s fave pop-up D-floors, Church.
That’s right, Goodbar (as it was known to Sydney punters prior to it’s closure in 2006), has had a total renovation and will be bringing Sydney’s deserving night owls a damn good bar and nightclub to get excited about. The iconic Oxford Street venue will play host to a cocktail bar, while the basement nightclub will be representative of days of old, with techno and house music a main focus.
And, if you just so happen to be concerned with what you're drinking past midnight (pffft), they’ve got you covered with a cocktail list that’s been curated with an intent to turn day time drinking into a nighttime affair. Expect to see things like cold pressed juice and coconut water based cocktails. We know what you’re thinking- this could only mean one thing. No more hangovers. We can only hope, but we’re pretty sure hangovers only kick in once you wake up and we’re planning on partying the whole way through with thanks to this new (old) late night haunt. So, as soon as Goodbar opens, you’ll know where to find us.

Bar Demo
Bar Demo is a late-night vinyl bar in Newtown, designed for lovers of a well-crafted drink without the fuss. Owners Claudia Morgan and Olly Churcher (Ex-Double Deuce Lounge) are bartenders by trade, so there’s faith to be had in their curated 60-bottle wine list and seasonally crafted cocktails. The venue itself has grown from their joint experiences working and sipping in some of Sydney’s best bars—Morgan says “we wanted somewhere open late where we could buy a bottle without sitting down for a meal, sink some martinis, listen to some interesting music or have a dance”. Bar Demo certainly checks all of the boxes: open 5pm—midnight, Wednesday—Saturday, with no full kitchen but a dedicated menu for snacks, and a soundtrack of full albums played on vinyl, with each night featuring a curated selection of tunes.
