Beer. Dumplings. Repeat. Beer. Dumplings. Repeat. You remember the hype from back in November—Redfern’s Happy D’s has finally landed, bringing with it the ultimate combination.
This hole in the wall is run by the dream mother-and-son team Andrew and Debra Watts; one’s in the bar, the other is in the kitchen. The menu has pretty much every dumpling you can imagine, as well as a weekly special that leans towards the more creative side.
As for the booze; Asahi (obviously) is flowing loud and proud, as well as Japanese craft beers, Japanese whisky and sake, along with a couple of cocktails. The wine list is short and sweet, but when it comes to dumplings, what more could you ask for.
A bright red bar and bare-brick walls showcase the low key and effortlessly cool vibe of this soon-to-be Redfern local—simple and finger licking good.
