The verdict
Happy Ending Burgers is a bucket list burger joint for any and all burger aficionados.
Back in the day, this gem started off as one of Sydney’s most popular burger trucks and its bricks and mortar outpost carries the same level of hype (meaning, you can expect lines out the door but in true H.E.B-style, it’s always well worth the wait).
This restaurant rocks a dark fit-out and a menu that's predominantly takeaway. The delicious burger line-up is kept short and sweet with rotating weekly specials.
The brains behind Happy Ending Burgers is the same guy that brought about Sydney’s iconic Mister Gee Burger Truck. Yep, we’re talking Gee Ozge—who pretty much takes the cake for slinging some of the best burgers in Sydney.
Of all of Ozgen’s next level specials and burger collabs, one of the hands-down best to date has been an early 2020 collab with Mapo Newtown (just casually one of the creamiest gelato places around).
And the “Happy Ending Ice Cream Truck” is this collab's creative genius—a ridiculous burger stack of fried chicken and Mapo’s signature Fiordilatte hot honey and vanilla ice-cream, all sandwiched into a toasted milk bun. It’s here for a good time, not a long time—but we’ll be honest, we genuinely wish she was a staple on the menu.
As for what’s always on the menu, this place churns out a notable roster of sides including fried chicken tenders, cheese fries, loaded fries (with truffle ketchup) and deep-fried Oreos. On the burger side of things, you’ll find a classic “Cheese 2000”, a stack donned “Psychedelics” loaded with beef, provolone, jalapeno-pineapple relish and even a “Kai Dog” chicken burger with pickled carrot, fried shallots and dijon.
