The Details

A collection of small Japanese dishes including oysters and snails all lined up.

Harada is an Omakase-style Japanese restaurant in Glebe with a big focus on seafood. Headed up by chef Yoshinobu Harada who has a knack for creating umami flavours with the freshest, seasonal produce, you can expect a modern twist on traditional Japanese eats at Harada.

The fully licensed restaurant is the place to go for a Tokyo-style tipple, with plenty of sake, whisky and wine to enjoy against a backdrop of jazz and blues. The dark and moody restaurant makes for the perfect date night atmosphere, as does the omakase menu.

At $170 per person, bookings are required in advance for this experience in which you leave the decisions up to the chef. Expect Japanese delicacies created using French and Italian techniques. On hold, for the time being, is Harada’s umami-heavy lunchtime ramens inspired by the Japanese cities of Tokyo, Sapporo, Kyoto and Hakata. They also sling yakitori-style eats for a more laid back dinner option. You can even enjoy a romantic night at home with one of Harada’s omakase bento takeaway sets. Featuring miso salmon, baby abalone, gyoza stuffed with prawn cream and roast duck, wagyu rump roast beef and snow crab with salmon caviar rice; you’re set for a Netflix and chill night to remember.
