The verdict:
Experience American-style deli sandwiches with a pastrami Reuben inspired by New York's Katz's Deli at new North Narrabeen sandwich shop Indies Deli.
Chef Clinton (ex-Cavalino), the founder of Two Hungry Bears, has opened a light, welcoming 25 to 30-seat space at the bottom of Powder Works Road, 1km from the beach. It's designed as an American-style companion to the Northern Beaches' Italian sandwich shops.
The pastrami Reuben comes on an artisan Turkish roll, alongside classics like a BLT and a schnitzel sandwich. There's also an egg sandwich with optional chilli oil, smoked brisket and pulled pork paired with fresh veg, and melts topped with a homestyle tomato chutney from Clinton's mum's recipe. The menu will rotate for winter.
On the drinks front, expect vanilla foam-topped single origin cold brew, hot filter coffee and a salted caramel oat latte, plus classic shakes and homestyle condiments to take home.
