If you’re just as matcha-obsessed as we are, you’ve got to try Issho. The cozy Japanese cafe and dessert house in Haymarket puts the premium green powder front and centre, offering some of the best matcha dishes and drinks in Sydney.

You’ll find 16 unique creations on the menu, from pink matcha souffle pancakes and molten matcha french toast to a layered matcha crêpe cake and matcha tiramisu kakigori (a towering shaved iced dessert).

To no surprise, the drinks menu is just as matcha-heavy with pistachio, mango, strawberry, coconut, espresso, cream cheese, and double matcha cloud variations, plus fun drinks sans matcha like an iced chocolate float topped with a swirl of Hokkaido soft-serve and a coffee einspanner with velvety milk and whipped cream.

Beyond the earthy green goodness, Issho has a stacked lineup of Japanese-inspired bites like fluffy sandos, donburi, opened sushi ready to roll, pasta with an Asian twist (including their take on the viral Tokyo udon carbonara) and small plates like burrata with chilli oil and golden patongo (Thai-style fried dough sticks).

Conveniently located right next to the Chinatown light rail stop, Issho is a must-visit whether you’re a matcha newbie or a hardcore fan.
