The verdict
Finally, Chicago deep dish has landed in Sydney. Between us, we couldn’t be more excited that we only have to travel to Darlinghurst for a sweet, cheesy slice of pie. Executive Chef Cy Gwynne (formerly of Longrain and Café Sydney) is backing up the deep dish with pasta, antipasto, arancini balls, cannoli and gelato. So yeah, this feast will be epic!
Set inside a terrace, Johnny Fontane’s is divided into four distinct spaces—the Rat Pack slash swing-themed downstairs bar, a Sicilian-style courtyard, a “gangster lounge” for eating and drinking, and a retro, Cuban-themed cigar deck. The drinks menu has three main categories—all of which are calling our names—signature cocktails that hero Italian liquors, modern twists on classics and wines and craft beers.
In case all of that isn’t enough to get The Godfather vibes happening, there’ll also be Cuban cigars available to enjoy in that cigar deck we mentioned earlier. Johnny Fontane’s is the place to settle in and enjoy a cocktail with a Chicago deep dish, or to puff on a cigar (still with a Chicago deep dish, obvs). Both sound pretty damn good to us, TBH.
