The verdict

Tutti A Tavola! Everyone to the table! Such is the philosophy of Massimo Mele, the Tasmanian-born, Naples-raised head chef of Italian restaurant La Scala on Jersey. Whether or not diners choose to share dishes, the focus is on the communal experience of having a meal together. The a la carte menu offers a variety of shared plates (do the octopus salad. Do it!) and meaty and seafoody mains, while also catering for vegetarians and children.

For the boozers, there is a very excellent wine list, spanning Australia, New Zealand, Italy and France. If you feel so inclined, pop over to the attached bar to check out the antipasti menu, and cocktails by Julian Serna.
