Established by Michele Condurro in 1870, L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele is an OG Naples pizzeria that brings over 150 years of pizza prowess to Australian shores.
Opening its first Australian outpost in Sydney’s CBD, Da Michele introduces its globally recognised Neapolitan pizzaiuolo craft to bustling Pitt Street, joining a family of more than 80 locations worldwide.
Authentic ingredients and specialist tools have been imported directly from Naples to ensure every slice tastes exactly as it does in the original shop—even down to the crushed San Marzano tomatoes and Agerola fior di latte used to make their signature Margherita.
“Many pizzerias claim to serve ‘Neapolitan style,’ but no others can live up to the original,” says Da Michele representative Giuseppe Costagliola.
“We’ve brought everything from our hometown: the oven, the artisans, the vitality of Naples, so that every bite can transport you there in an instant.”
The wood-fired pies are constructed with 24-hour-fermented, hand-stretched dough and a technique so pure it’s UNESCO-recognised, reflecting generations of skill passed down through the founding family.
You’d think that kind of craft would cost you, but Da Michele prides itself on its accessibility, with whole pizzas starting at just $18 and considerations for dietaries like vegan mozzarella for lactose-free folk.
Alongside their fold-and-hold-ready pizzas, there’s a whole menu of antipasti, pastas, mains, desserts and drinks to get around, as well as limoncello from Sorrento to complete your transportative Italian experience.
