The verdict

Melbourne's renowned pay-as-you-feel vegan restaurant has spread its roots to Sydney, with the opening of Lentil As Anything in Newtown. The 'honesty policy' restaurant founded by former Sri Lankan refugee, Shanaka Fernando, offers an array of tasty vegan dishes, where diners are invited to pay what they feel the meal is worth.

Head upstairs to Lentil on the Rocks, Sydney's first non-alcoholic mocktail bar serving tonics like lime and rosemary, kumquat, plum and pepper and agave soaked pear with ginger.

From the brothers behind local legend Ham Cafe in Cronulla comes Homer Rogue Taverna—an gritty, graffiti streaked Greek restaurant plating up a plethora of meats, seafood, vegetables, and traditional woodfired flatbread.
